Projects
A project is simply any task that has subtasks, like this:
- ๐๏ธ This is the name of the project
- This will be the Next Action and will show up on the Task List
The ๐๏ธ icon is automatically added by the plugin to make project identification easy. You donโt need to add it yourself.
Tasks for projects are processed sequentially. If you add a second child task to this project, it will not show up on the main task list until the previous task has been completed:
- ๐๏ธ Example project
- This will be the Next Action and will show up on the Task List
- This task will only appear once the previous task has been completed
You can have multiple projects within the same note without any issues:
- ๐๏ธ Project 1
- The next action for Project 1
- ๐๏ธ Project 2
- The next action for Project 2
- A task, not a project, since it has no sub-tasks
- Another task
Tip
Please note that the projects do not need to be part of a single list. They could be in separate sections of a note, or in completely different notes.
Sub-projects
You can add as many levels of subprojects (child projects) to a project that you like. You can do this in two ways, with subprojects being sequential or parallel.
To make things clearer, I have added some extra icons:
- โถ๏ธ Means the Next Action
- โ๏ธ Means this task is dependent on a previous task being completed
Sequential
If you make subprojects of a project, the first subproject needs to be completed before the tasks in the second subproject become active:
- ๐๏ธ The root project
- ๐๏ธ First subproject
- โถ๏ธ Task 1 for the subproject
- โ๏ธ Task 2 for the subproject
- ๐๏ธ Second subproject
- โ๏ธ This project will depend on the first project being completed
- โ๏ธ โฆbefore any task becomes active
- ๐๏ธ First subproject
Parallel
If you want projects to be completed in parallel, have them both at the root level:
- ๐๏ธ Project 1 to be completed in parallel
- โถ๏ธ Task 1 for this project
- โ๏ธ Task 2 for this project
- ๐๏ธ Project 2 to be completed in parallel
- โถ๏ธ Task 1 for the 2nd project
- โ๏ธ Task 2 for the 2nd project
Tip
Please note that the projects do not need to be part of a single list. They could be in separate sections of a note, or in completely different notes.
