Master device

If using Obsidian on multiple devices and syncing between them, there is a significant issue where updating the data.json file on two devices can cause sync errors and lost data.

To work around this I use the concept of a Master device. Only that instance of Obsidian can make changes to the data.json database, and those changes and synced out to the Secondary devices.

The Secondary devices can add/modify tasks and perform all other actions. When those modified notes are synced to the Master device, it will pick them up, process the tasks, and the updated data.json will be synced back to the Secondary devices.

The master device can be revoked from inside the Settings page.
